New Postmaster gets acquainted with community

Robert Fike, new Muncy Postmaster, likes the garden outside the Muncy Post Office and said it is a welcoming sight for customers.
MUNCY – On May 3rd Muncy was greeted with a new Postmaster. Robert Fike, a native to Williamsport, applied for the open position so that he could be closer to home, he said.
Since 1995 he has been an employee with the United States Postal system starting out as a rural carrier associate then a city carrier working from the Reach Road plant in Williamsport.
After graduation from High School in 1986 Fike joined the Army for 9 years before joining the Post Office.
In 2000 he moved up to a supervisor at the Mansfield Post Office and commuted back and forth from Cogan Station where he resides with his wife, Linda and three daughters, Talesha, Amber and Kaylee. They also have one grandson.
In 2009 Fike was promoted to Postmaster at the Mansfield office. He wanted to come to Muncy instead because he said it gave him more time with his family since he didn’t have as much travel time.
“People are great here,” he said. Fike walked two Muncy routes so far. “I am impressed with this Post Office and the building and the gardens. John Fave takes pride in his job,” he added.
