Girl Scout project helps feral cats

Tom Montgomery with Olivia Bender at TJ's Market in Hughesville
Olivia Bender from Picture Rocks is with Tom Montgomery of TJ’s Market in Hughesville. Bender worked on her Girl Scout Silver Award and chose the Beckoning Cat Project for her subject. TJ’s recently allowed Bender to hold a cat food drive in the store. All items were donated to the Beckoning Cat Project, 1417 East Third Street, Williamsport. The Beckoning Cat Project is a low cost Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) clinic performing community service by stabilizing feral cat colonies, reducing disease and undesirable cat behavior. Bender was grateful on the amount of donations that came in from the community. Everyday someone would put something in the box and they were overfilled by the time she delivered the packages on October 21.
The cat food drive was held from Sept. 16 through Oct.16, National Feral Cat Day.
