Local convenience store sells $2M lottery ticket

Since the announcement last Thursday of the $2 million winning ticket, the Unity Mart on N. Main Street in Muncy has been continuously busy with more lucky winners.
MUNCY – “This is one lucky store,” announced owner A. Patel of the Unity Food Mart on North Main Street in Muncy. Having owned the store for three years, he responded that it is “continuously on record that someone hits the money here.”
Patel discovered early Thursday morning that someone won 2 million dollars matching five numbers from last week’s Powerball. But so far no one has come forth, he said.
This is not the first time someone has won big. In 2012 someone won 50,000 dollars.
On Friday afternoon when the Luminary was there, Linda Dowd from Muncy purchased an instant card ticket and won $100.
Last month Anna Riddell from Montgomery won $2500 with just one dollar.

It is not just the lucky lottery wins that bring customers to his store, but also the great discounts he offers in the deli and for gas. There is a steady stream of customers, all day long. “Lunch meat and sandwiches are very popular too,” Patel said. In just two hours, they made over 70 sandwiches last Friday afternoon.
Patel said he really likes Muncy and is in the process of moving his family here. “You won’t find this kind of honest people anywhere. They are very respectful here.” His customers come from Muncy, Hughesville and Montgomery.
“Yes, we are one of the luckiest stores here,” admitted Patel who will receive almost $10,000 for a bonus on the lottery winnings.
