Eyer Inducted into Hall of Fame

The District 4 Wrestling Coaches Association held its Hall of Fame induction on Saturday night prior to the championship finals of the District 4 Class AA tournament in Williamsport High School. Royce Eyer, of Muncy, (above right), was one of the five inductees. Eyer, a graduate of Hughesville High School in 1997, compiled a record of 104-21 as a high school wrestler winning three sectional titles. He was a three-time PIAA Class AA State Qualifier placing fifth in 1996 and sixth in 1997. He continued his wrestling career at Lycoming College, where he established the school’s single-season record for wins (46 in 2001). He is also the school’s all-time wins (127) and pins (51) leader. In 2001, he was the NCAA Division III National Champion at 157 lbs. He was a two-time MAC Champion (149 lbs. in 2000 and 157 lbs. in 2001), at which time he was named Lycoming College’s Outstanding Male Athlete. In 2010, Royce was inducted into the Lycoming College Athletics’ Hall of Fame. In 2014 Eyer was inducted into the West Branch Valley chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
