LINDEN – Muncy Bank & Trust broke ground on Tuesday, October 18 for a new 3,039 square foot bank office in Linden located in Woodward Township next to the Harvest Moon restaurant on Route 220.

This is something they have been planning since January 2016 according to Rob Glunk, President and CEO. “We are excited about this new location,” said Glunk who sees the area as a real “growth corridor.”

Studies show that a population of 3500 and a commute of 30,000 vehicles a day proved to be a good reason to expand in this area. “We have received an overwhelming response from the community,” added Glunk who also informed the Luminary that another branch will be located in Avis as well and will open the first of the year 2017. They will be locating in an existing building which is currently being remodeled.

The Linden location will be the sixth full service bank office in Lycoming County and plans for its opening will be in April of 2017.

This new growth spurt will bring in new local employees and will be a convenience for those who commute back and forth from Jersey Shore and Lock Haven and the northern tier to Williamsport. “We are defining community banking,” added Glunk who also announced that Muncy Bank & Trust is the oldest bank headquartered in Lycoming County since its inception in 1893. “We will be able to service both Lyoming County and Clinton County. We are really excited about this project.”

Local dignitaries joined Glunk in the groundbreaking ceremony. The community office, now under construction, will provide a full range of financial services, investment and trust services, a drive-up facility, an ATM and night deposit services.

The company will celebrate 125 years in business in 2018.
