Student receives promotion in Civil Air Patrol program

HUGHESVILLE – On August 23rd, Samantha Thompson, a cadet in the Williamsport Composite Squadron of the United States Civil Air Patrol earned her next promotion in the program.
Cadet Thompson of Hughesville completed the third milestone achievement in the Civil Air Patrol program, the Amelia Earhart Award, and was promoted to the grade of Cadet Captain. Captain Thompson is the current Cadet Commander for Williamsport Squadron and is responsible for planning all meetings, outlining the goals of the squadron and making sure they are accomplished.
Captain Thompson was recognized by Congressman Tom Marino for her achievement in the program. Through this accomplishment, Captain Thompson has graduated to the fourth phase of the program, marking her in the top 5 percent of Civil Air Patrol Cadets.
