Fluctuating temperatures caused ice jams in the East Lycoming area on Friday afternoon as seen from the Picture Rocks bridge.
On Thursday, January 11 temperatures reached over 60 degrees from record lows of minus 4 causing ice to break up in local streams. The cold grip was temporarily replaced by warmer temperatures for less than 24 hours before going back down to freezing levels. This photo was taken on Friday close to noon from the bridge in Picture Rocks as the ice started to jam up and water rose close to the edge of the bridge. Over the weekend temperatures plummeted once again to single digits with sleet and freezing rain.
