Pennsdale resident honored for service on county’s conservation board
MUNCY – Pennsdale area resident Larry Fry was honored at the annual Conservation District and Penn State Extension awards banquet on March 27 for his service as a “farmer” director on Lycoming County’s Conservation Board of Directors from 2001-17.
Conservation board member Joe Radley said Fry was a dedicated board member for many years. He shared how many times Fry would come to meetings “wearing the stuff he was wearing in the fields just before he got there.”
Fry also received a certificate of recognition from the state House of Representatives, presented by state Rep. Garth Everett, R-Muncy, and a citation from the Lycoming County commissioners.
Acknowledging the challenge of finding volunteers today, Commissioners Rick Mirabito and Jack McKernan praised Fry for his service.
“When we have someone who’s put all the time and energy into a community organization that you have, we want to say thanks,” Mirabito said.
Harold and Joan London received the 2017 Cooperator of the Year Award from the Lycoming County Conservation District.
