Grace Speary celebrates ten decades

BARB BARRETT/The Luminary Grace Speary turned 100 on May 8 and had a celebration at Wolf Run Village in Hughesville where she resides. Her day was sponsored with a citation in her honor by Rep. Garth Everett. To her left is her daughter, Bernadine Snyder.

HUGHESVILLE – May 8, 2018 was a big day for Grace Speary. For on that day the mother of four children, turned 100.

For 98 years, Grace was a resident of Muncy. She was born in 1918 in East Palestine, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foust of Muncy. Christened Grace Elizabeth Foust, she married Sergt. Bernard T. Speary on Feb. 10. He was a graduate of Sonestown High School and Grace graduated from Muncy/Muncy Creek High School in 1935.

Together they had four children and have also been blessed with 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Attending her celebration was State Representative Garth Everett who presented Grace with a citation in her honor. “The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania pays tribute to Grace E. Speary upon the joyous celebration of her 100th birthday,” he announced with appreciation and acknowledged her generosity to the well being of others.

“She has contributed to the enrichment and betterment of succeeding generations,” he added.

Her birthday was celebrated at Wolf Run Village in Hughesville where she currently resides.
