Lairdsville seeking funding from county for sewer project

By Staff | Aug 31, 2018

Lycoming County applicants for 2018 Community Development Block Grant funding were announced last week, each seeking a piece of the $275,579 allotted to the county – about $25,000 more than what was received in 2017, said Kristen McLaughlin, of SEDA-Council of Governments.

Franklin Township is requesting funding again this year for $105,600 to cover lateral installation and on-lot disposal system decommissioning for Lairdsville residents as related to the Lairdsville sanitary sewer construction project.

“In order to keep the sewage and water costs for citizens at a reasonable amount, it’s going to take significant funding to make these improvements requested by DEP (the state Department of Environmental Protection),” said Commissioner Jack McKernan. “Hopefully they will be successful on this.”
