Festival of Trees Begins
MUNCY TOWNSHIP-Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, the Salvation Army’s annual Festival of Trees launches at the Lycoming Mall, and lasts until Friday, Dec. 13.
The annual event is the organization’s 17th annual celebration and live auction, sponsored by Backyard Broadcasting, Lycoming Mall and Roan Real Estate.
Up to 50 area businesses will participate in the fundraiser in which the public votes for their favorite tree either at the mall, the business’s location, or online during the three-week display.
Entry deadlines were met Nov. 8; after that, The Salvation Army provides the company or organization with a 6 1/2 foot tree and signage. Participants provide the decorations along with incentives of their choice.
Then, on Dec. 13, 7 p.m, the trees and are auctioned to the public by auctioneer Mike Roan. The tree that raises the most money during the auction will receive the “Best Overall Tree” award, while the group earning the most votes will receive the “People’s Choice” award.
All proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army’s on-going programs.
