Rally for Rob

Rally for Rob

HUGHESVILLE-A benefit to assist a local man who was diagnosed with cancer is scheduled Sunday, Dec. 15, and the public is welcomed to attend.
It hasn’t been a stellar span of time for Rob Derrick, who suffered two heart attacks earlier this year. Then in mid-summer, he began experiencing crushing ear pain and a burning sore spot in the back of his throat, followed by afternoon fatigue.
Derrick, of Muncy, is currently undergoing seven weeks of radiation and chemotherapy after being diagnosed initially with tonsil cancer. The aggressive cancer has spread into his jaw and lymph nodes cancer.
Following the Sept. 17 diagnosis, Rob has endured all the tests and biopsy surgeries, including the prior insertion of a feeding tube in his stomach before aggressive daily radiation treatments and weekly chemotherapy could begin.
The multitude of appointments has caused him income loss as a small-business owner of 3D Metal Works in Turbotville. The costs associated with battling the illness can be overwhelming, and a benefit to financially help Rob and his wife, Tina, has been scheduled to kick off at the Hughesville Fire Hall, 26 North Railroad Street, from noon to 6 p.m.
A pig roast dinner with a number of side dishes are available to purchase at $10 per person. A Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle are also planned. To sponsor an auction basket or to make a donation, contact Allison Morehart at 570.419.5320
