Winterfest in Sullivan County

Snow or no snow, the Sullivan County Kiwanis Winterfest kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 15. Outdoor enthusiasts have the options of competing in an ice fishing tournament, polar bear plunge, scavenger hunt and a frozen fish toss. Cash prizes will be awarded for all contests, including two cruises to sunny Bermuda for those taking the plunge into Elk Lake.

Camp Brule, north of Forksville off Route 154 is the location of Winterfest.

Gates open at 7 a.m. and weather permitting, the ice fishing tournament begins then and lasts until 2:30 p.m. Assorted vendors will be present and open for business at 9 a.m., followed by outside food concessions providing hot food beginning at 10 a.m.

Michael Kuriga, Raptor Educator, will present a live birds of prey education show at 10:30 a.m. Ice carving, a children’s art show, live auction are also part of the festivities until 5 p.m.
