Greater Muncy Resiliency Project receives award
Lycoming County commissioners approved an amendment to an agreement with Tetra Tech Inc. to extend the Muncy Resiliency Plan project during their meeting Thursday.
The six-month extension comes at no extra cost to the county.
The county, Muncy Borough and Muncy Creek Township are collaborating on the plan to identify projects that help the community withstand and rebound from threats and challenges, including flooding.
Notable projects in the draft plan, currently under development, include the innovative demo-rebuild pilot project, the utility elevation project, and the blue ribbon floodplain awareness project.
Previously, Muncy Borough was accepted as a FEMA Resilience Neighbors Network (RNN) partner, a program designed to link together communities working to become safer, disaster-resilient, and sustainable.
Most recently, the county became the recipient of the national Excellence in Mitigation Innovation Award for its part in the Resiliency Plan.
The award will be presented at the March 2020 Hazard Mitigation Partners Workshop in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
