Graduation Ceremonies Doubled at Muncy
MUNCY-Two tentative commencement exercises for the Class of 2020 have been announced by the school district.
A Friday, Aug. 7, date is designed for an in-person whole class ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m., while a more personal family-style graduation has been approved on Friday, June 5; Monday, June 8; and Tuesday, June 9.
For the June ceremonies, graduates will be limited to 15 guests to comply with the number of 25 total as per COVID-19 guidelines. June 10 will be a rain date if the weather plays a part in disrupting the set dates.
The June commencements will be on an individual basis on the front lawn in 15-minute intervals beginning at noon and drawing to a close at 5 p.m. on those selected dates.
Exceptions will be granted to the top five graduates who will be given 30-minute intervals so they can complete their commencement speeches; then ceremonies will occur in alphabetical order.
A minimum of 250 people will be permitted at the Aug. 7 ceremony, pending the COVID-19 guidelines have been met and Lycoming county is in the “green phase.” Because the likelihood of entering the green phase is unknown, the school board elected to creatively design the June programs to ensure that each student’s accomplishments may be celebrated.
