Seniors in the East Lycoming School District and Montgomery Area School District experienced a new model of graduation ceremony in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic last week. At Hughesville, much collaboration and forethought went video recording and production prior to the presentation. Then, a drive-in theater-style ceremony was held at the Lycoming County fairgrounds at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 3. Seniors (above) like Justus Leighow, Devin Maciejewski, Blake Sherwood, Ethan Snyder and Brock Stroup watched the production from the bed of a truck. The feature was viewed on a big screen, showcasing each graduate receiving their diploma, as well as student speakers and congratulation messages. Afterwards, faculty and staff gave seniors a thoughtful send-off. The yearbook was dedicated to Spanish teacher Dara Oden (below).

On Friday, June 5, seniors received their diplomas during a ceremony at the Montgomery Athletic Complex, followed a parade throughout the town. It ended at the Montgomery Pike drive-in, where seniors, like Eli Barbier, watched a video production on the big screen.
