Muncy Library receives charitable giving

By Shirley Confer Boatman - | Jul 6, 2022

Since the start of the Pandemic, the Muncy Library has been creating activity bags for the residents of Muncy Place Skilled Nursing facility at UPMC. The bags are delivered each month and include crossword puzzles, coloring pages, trivia, Sudoku puzzles and craft projects. For this program, the Library was presented with a donation from PA Skills Charitable Giving Miele Corporation at a recent ceremony. Cassandra Neidig, the Director of Activities at UPMC, has expressed her gratitude to the Library for engaging her residents each month. She shared that the Library has also donated Audiobooks and Large Print books to the center as well. Patricia Dershem, Library Assistant at Muncy Library, initiated the Outreach to ensure the residents had intellectual stimulation as well as something colorful and inviting to engage with while pandemic restrictions were in place. “It has become such a wonderful way for our Library to extend its services to our community, that we have no plans of stopping anytime soon,” said Corey Breneisen, Director of Muncy Library. “We are grateful for the donation which will allow this program to continue,” Breneisen concluded.

In other highlights for the Library, it has recently installed an elevator that allows access for handicapped patrons to all levels of the Library.
