Eleanor E. Waldman

Eleanor E. Waldman, 80, of Williamsport, passed away Nov. 24, 2008 at the Gatehouse.

Born Jan. 21, 1928 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Oris C. and Julia Ann Feeney McCloskey and was raised by her late grandmother, Sadie McCloskey.

A 1946 graduate of Williamsport High School, she attended Western Union School for two years.

She had been a bookkeeper for 44 years. She had worked at Lynn Hayes clothing store, the YWCA for 11 years and J. J. Electric until retiring in 2003.

Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and she was always involved in all their activities.

She was a fan of horse racing, NASCAR and baseball, especially the NY Mets.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed roller-skating and swimming.

She is survived by her sons, Carl A., Jr. of Muncy, David L. (Margaret) of Home, PA, Louis Terry (Denise), Stephen O. (Corinne), both of Williamsport; daughters, Kathryn A. Brown (James) Wehr of Montoursville and Gail E. (Michael) O’Brien of Williamsport; 16 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; her siblings, Kathryn Harer of Montoursville, Karl McCloskey of Muncy and June Morehart of Battle Creek, MI.

In addition to her parents and grandmother, she was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Taylor, a twin brother, Joseph McCloskey, a sister, Jean Parks, two brothers, Oris McCloskey and Paul McCloskey, two grandsons, Michael and Jason Waldman, and one great grandson Mackensie Hoffman.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Life Celebration service, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the First United Methodist Church, 2 Ross St., Williamsport, with Rev. Richard D. Waters officiating. A receiving of friends will be from 10 until 11 at the church. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
