Edna M. Fox
Edna M. Fox, 80, of Montgomery, was called home on Dec. 9, 2008 in the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Williamsport, on Feb. 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Earl and Mary (Snyder) VanSant.
She was the widow of Clayton M. Fox who preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2004. His death broke a marital union of over 56 years.
A 946 graduate of Williamsport High School, ahw attended the Practical Bible Training Institute of Binghamton, NY. She received an “Honorary Alumnus” award from the Montgomery Area Alumni Association.
Mrs. Fox was a faithful member of the Clinton Baptist Church, Montgomery, where she taught Sunday School and served on the Board of Deacons. She also attended Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Muncy.
Affectionately known as the Doll Lady, she often visited area schools to read stories relating to her doll collection to students. She and her doll collection, which numbered over 5,000, were featured in several area newspapers.
Mrs. Fox volunteered for many years at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Muncy Valley Hospital, and was active in many civic organizations, including the Business Women of Montgomery, the Montgomery Historical Society and serving on the Board of Elections.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Charles Aderhold, Macon, GA; Deborah and Robert Cox, Silver Springs, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Diahn Fox, Dairy, OR; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Judy VanSant, Williamsport; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Richard Winters, Warminster, PA; Doris and Ralph Smith, Yakima, WA; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Earl VanSant, Jr., Donald VanSant and Calvin VanSant and by two sisters, Leona Baker and Bernice Allen.
A celebration of her life was held at the Clinton Baptist Church, Montgomery, on Dec. 12, with the Rev. Larry A. LeFeber, her pastor, officiating.
