James M. Butler
James M. Butler, 77, of Muncy, formerly of Montoursville, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the Gatehouse.
Born Oct. 9, 1931, in Eagles Mere, he was a son of the late Clarence and Della Smith Butler.
He and his wife, the former Magdaline J. Entz, celebrated 30 years of marriage on Sept. 22, 2008.
Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 104, Montoursville. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Muncy Valley Lodge 866 and the Teamsters Union, Milton.
He was a career truck driver and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. Jim also attended the Elimsport Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are six children, Denise (Doug) Spotts of Hughesville, Steve Butler of Montoursville, Mike (Janine) Butler of Montoursville, Karen Shoup of Florida, Kathy (Steve) Reitz of Hughesville and Mark (Ruie) Butler of Montoursville; two step children, Ernest (Marie) Schmouder of Trout Run and Deborah (Russell) Smith of Boiling Springs; a brother, Donald (Arlene) Butler of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Sandi Irion of Trout Run; 16 grandchildren; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. D. Todd Baker officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to The Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
