Kennard A. (K.D.) Decker

Kennard A. (K.D.) Decker, 69, a resident of 156 Fredna Avenue, Montgomery, PA, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009 in the Gatehouse at Williamsport, PA. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, PA, on Monday, March 20, 1939, he was the son of the late Nevin and Gladys (Bastian) Decker.

K.D. was the husband of Nancy E. (Rhone) Decker with whom he celebrated a 13th wedding anniversary on April 7, 2008. They had been together since 1980.

Ken was a 1957 graduate of Montgomery High School. He was employed as a pipefitter-welder by Local 520 out of Harrisburg, PA.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and going to his river lot. He especially enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Shadow. Ken was a social member of Bower-Decker American Legion Post 251 at Montgomery.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Ron and Missy Staggert, Allenwood, PA; Tom (Tina) Staggert, Montgomery, PA; four grandsons, Matt Staggert, Watsontown, PA; Chris Staggert, Florida; Ron Staggert, Jr., Allenwood, PA; Caleb Decker, Muncy, PA; two granddaughters, Amanda Staggert, Allenwood, PA; Sara Staggert, Allenwood, PA; one great-granddaughter, Grace; one brother and sister-in-law, Gayle and Bonnie Decker, Montgomery, PA; one sister, Diane Koons, Benton, PA. He had many special nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by one son, Steven A. Decker; one daughter, Kathy Lee Decker and one sister, Carol Decker.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 with Roosevelt Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery, officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 – 12:00 at the funeral home. The family requests no flowers.
