Mary Sprout Artley

Mary Sprout Artley, 87, of Muncy, formerly of Picture Rocks, passed away, Friday Jan. 2, 2009, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Her husband, Donald E. Artley, predeceased her on June 9, 1993.

She was born on Feb. 9, 1921 in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Archie G. and Edith M. (Emery) Sprout.

Mary was a long time member of the Picture Rocks Baptist Church and also the Order of the Eastern Star, Monsey Chapter # 481. She was a school bus driver for many years driving for Jack Michael in the East Lycoming School District. She loved to knit, sew, crochet, and especially loved collecting teddy bears.

She is survived by two children; John D. and wife Christie Artley, of Hughesville, Mary Ellen and husband Bud Printzenhoff, of Picture Rocks, two brothers; James Gordon Sprout of Picture Rocks and John W. “Wes” Sprout of Muncy. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

As per her wishes, funeral services will be held at the convenience of her family. They suggest that memorial contributions be directed to the Picture Rocks Baptist Church, PO Box 408 Elm St., Picture Rocks, PA 17762.
