Audrey E. Snyder
Audrey E. Snyder, 81, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at her home.
Born July 6, 1927, in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Bruce L. and Janet Moir Rhind Taylor.
She and her husband, Donald L. Snyder, celebrated 38 years of marriage on June 27, 2008.
A 1946 graduate of Hughesville High School Class, she was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class.
Mrs. Snyder was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Hughesville and the United Methodist Women, serving as secretary for 24 years. She was also a member of the 39 Plus Club and enjoyed camping, collecting cow memorabilia and caring for cats.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four daughters, Michelle Lee Hopkins of Williamsport, Heidi (Larry) Long of Muncy, Stephanie (Duane) Robbins of Smyrna, TN, and Mary Rucker of Hughesville; a step-daughter, Nancy (Robert) Whitmyer of Williamsport; a step-son Robert Snyder of Williamsport; seven grandchildren, Michael Hopkins, James Robbins, Chad, Ashley and Tiffany Long, Tyler and Logan Rucker; two step-grandchildren, Dustin and Sarah Whitmyer; and her beloved cats, Sopie and Tux.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James L. Poust and a sister, Madeline Moon.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Christ United Methodist Church, 148 S. Main St., Hughesville, with the Rev. G. Edward Corcelius officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
