Betty J. King

Betty J. King, 77, of Louise Avenue, Montgomery, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2009 at the Williamsport Hospital where she had been a medical patient.

Born in Winfield, May 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Minnie E. (Dorman) Embick. On July 15, 1952, she married Donald W. King and they have celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Betty retired from the Montgomery Area School District where she had been a baker for 15 years. She was an avid Bingo player and loved to bake and cook for her family. Earlier in life, she enjoyed crocheting and made baby blankets for her grandchildren. She cherished times spent with her grandchildren.

Surviving besides her husband are four daughters and sons-in-law: Debra and Joseph Eberlin, Sonestown; Vicki and Jeffery Peterman, Muncy Valley; Kandi and Dwayne Ellis and Darla and Chris Harper, all of Montgomery; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Donald “Buck” E. and Susanne King, Milton; Ricky and Brenda King, Montgomery; Terry “Deany” and Dana King, Kulpmont; and Jody King, Montgomery; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a step-sister, Viola “Tootie” Dressler, Lewisburg.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth King in 1995; four sisters: Josephine Brown, Esther Radel, Beatrice Embick and Mary Strasser and three brothers: Henry, Daniel, and Maynard Embick.

Friends are invited to call at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Roosevelt Brown of First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
