Raymond J. (Skip) Miller, Jr.
Raymond J. (Skip) Miller, Jr., 80, a resident of 1267 State Home Road, Montgomery, PA, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Gatehouse at Williamsport, PA following an illness of two years. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, PA, on Monday, July 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Raymond and Alice Miller.
Skip was the husband of Shirley M. (Ashton) Miller with whom he celebrated a 52nd wedding anniversary on May 26, 2008.
He served during the Second World War with the U.S. Army in Germany. Skip was employed in the foundry of Anchor Darling Valve Co. at Williamsport, PA, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the Danville Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. Skip especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond J. Miller III, Montgomery, PA; Robert W. and Lori Miller, Montgomery, PA; Steven E. Miller, Milton, PA; one daughter and son-in-law, Anitra and Adam Hampe, Muncy, PA; three brothers, Elwood Miller, Watsontown, PA; Clark Miller, Milton, PA; Wilbur Miller, Watsontown, PA; one sister, Alice Matt, Cleveland, OH. Skip is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Miller, and one sister, Margaret Ranck.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 with Rev. Zach LaBagh, pastor of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
