Joan L. VanHoute
Joan L. VanHoute, 69, of 1281 Turbot Ave., Watsontown, died Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born Sept. 2, 1939 on the family farm in Delaware Twp., Northumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Charles B. and Mildred Alberta (O’Connor) Reynolds.
She and her husband of 45 years, Albert VanHoute, were married July 20, 1963 at the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery.
Joan was employed as a seamstress at the former Turbotville Dress Co. for 26 years until retiring in 1997. Prior to that, she worked at the former Bobbie Brooks in Montgomery for six years.
She was a member of Watsontown Baptist Church.
Her family was very special to her, and she and her husband took every opportunity to spend time with their children and grandchildren, including family camping trips and babysitting for the grandkids. She and Albert also enjoyed attending bingo and going for walks together. Her family greatly enjoyed her delicious cookies, brownies and other baked goods.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Gwendolyn VanHoute and David and Patty VanHoute, all of Watsontown; four grandchildren, Angelica, Zach, Angus and Bailey VanHoute, all of Watsontown; five brothers, Richard, Larry, Donald and Mark Reynolds, all of Watsontown, and Wayne Reynolds of Milton; one sister, Diane Gray of Watsontown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was precedeased by a sister, Alberta Warren.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. James Ritter, assisted by Rev. Michael C. Reece, pastor of Delaware Run Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
