She was a graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School and a homemaker all her married life.

Henrietta M. “Retta” Staggert, 86, of South Creek Road, Allenwood, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2009 at her home.

Born November 18, 1922 in Montgomery, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Hazel (Wertz) Kerwell. She and her husband, Clair Richard “Dick” Staggert celebrated 62 years of marriage until his death April 26, 2003.

She was a graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School and a homemaker all her married life.

She enjoyed camping and fishing and playing Bingo. Earlier in her life, she and her husband enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.

She was an active lifetime member of White Deer Valley Baptist Church, Allenwood, where she served on the church anniversary committee and with the ABW Missionary Society.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William R. and Diane Staggert, Montgomery; five grandchildren: Tom (Tina) Staggert, Ronald (Melissa) Staggert; Tammy (James) Long; Diana (Doug) McCloskey; and William Staggert, Jr.; two step-grandchildren: Kevin (Kelly) Hamilton and Jeff (Robin) Hamilton; nine great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; and three brothers; Ray Kerwell, Jr., Montoursville, Bernard Kerwell, Montgomery, and George Kerwell, Williamsport.

Preceding her in death besides her husband was a daughter, Edna Mae Loss who died Jan. 18, 2004 and two grandchildren who died in infancy.

Friends are invited to call at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, where the funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Lois Yeagle, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to White Deer Valley Baptist Church, 572 White Deer Valley Baptist Church Road, Allenwood, PA 17810.
