Helen Winter Mayer

Helen Winter Mayer, 93, of 1500 Ridge Road, Jersey Shore, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 in the Williamsport Hospital.

Helen was born June 29, 1915 in Lairdsville, PA, the daughter of J. Kenneth Winter and the former Effie Derr.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence J. Mayer, September 27, 1986; they were united in marriage February 16, 1957.

For many years, she was a member of the Salladasburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving is a son Dr. Robert G. (Susan) Mayer of Jamaica Plains, MA; one daughter Mary Lou (Robert) Brooks of Oxford, MI; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Lois H. (Dr. Paul) Grove of Jersey Shore.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 23, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Salladasburg Cemetery. Rev. Kevin E. Brophy will officiate.
