Lillian N. Fague
Lillian N. Fague, 100, formerly of Picture Rocks, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Riverwoods in Lewisburg, where she had resided for the past 16 years.
Born June 25, 1908, in Beaver Meadows, Carbon County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Harry W. Newman. Her husband of 52 years, Rolland S. Fague, preceded her in death on July 15, 1979.
Mrs. Fague graduated from the Picture Rocks High School Class of 1927. She was employed at the former Strawbridge and Clothier, Philadelphia, L. L. Stearns, Williamsport and retired from the Muncy Valley Hospital in 1973, after having worked there for nine years.
Mrs. Fague was active in her church and community. She was a member of the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church and served in many capacities over the years, including choir member, Sunday School teacher, Administrative Board member of the church and the W.S.C.S. Mrs. Fague was also a member of the former Hughesville Women’s Club and the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary. After moving to Lewisburg, she became an active participant in the chorus, chime choir, and Kazoo Band, and also volunteered at the Slifer House.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in law, Donald S. and wife Dottie Fague of Picture Rocks and Harry N. Fague of Curlsville; a niece, Judith A. Staples of Shickshinny; five grandchildren; six great grandsons; one great-great granddaughter; and one step-great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fague was preceded in death by a sister, Helen N. Ash and a daughter-in-law, Delores Fague.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 28, 2009 at the Picture Rocks United Methodist Church.
