Charles R. “Chug” Young, 71, formerly of Montgomery and Hughesville, died at the Gatehouse in Williamsport on Wed., Jan. 28, 2009. He was born in Williamsport on Oct. 14, 1937, a son of the late Melvin L. and Hazel E. (Newcomer) Young.

Chug was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was previously employed by the Carey-McFall Corp. in Montgomery.

He is survived by four daughters, Crystal Segraves of Williamsport, Denise Johnson of Berwick, Tina McCabe and Teresa Lauer; four brothers, Albert, Robert, Roland and Larry Young; and five sisters, Margaret Miller, Genevieve Leech, Sharon Bennett, Sandra Mitstifer and Connie Meyer. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother Earl Young.

The funeral will be Saturday 11 a.m. at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Mark D. Brumbach officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
