Richard Thomas Bower

Our beloved Father, Son, and Brother, Richard Thomas Bower, 33, of 390 Peter Grey Lane, Muncy, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Muncy.
Born in Williamsport on January 26, 1976, he was the son of Kellie Bower-Vogt and the late Thomas Richard Bower.
Following his education at Muncy High School he received an Associate Degree in Computer Science from the McCann School of Business in Sunbury. He later attended Bloomsburg University and completed one year at Penn College in the Plastics and Polymer curriculum.
Richard worked as an Aide at the Selinsgrove Center for eight years and later worked at the Danville State Hospital before accepting a position with MI Trucking. He currently was employed at Economy Locker in Pennsdale, in addition to helping remodel his family’s home on Peter Grey Lane in Muncy.
A loving father and gentle man, Richard was known for his smile and wonderful friendly nature. He was dedicated to his family and friends and made a lasting impression with every person he met. He was an easy-going spirit, always ready for an adventure. Above all, Richard’s true love and devotion went to his daughter, Zoey. He loved his daughter more than life itself.
Many of his favorite pastimes occurred in the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. Richard’s other hobbies included competitive shooting, remote control planes and cars, and racing his Mazda in time trials through the Sports Car Club of America. When not spending time outdoors, he could be found at his computer or in the kitchen where he experimented with a wide variety of cooking styles. Richard was a self-taught brew master and often provided his friends with the delectable taste of a home-brewed beer and home-smoked game.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Robert Vogt of Pennsdale, he is survived by his 8-year old daughter, Zoey Theresa Pearle Bower of Treverton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ryan Thomas and Kerry Bower of Wellsboro and Kevin Thomas and Ann Marie Bower of Elizabethtown; four nephews and nieces, Thomas, Emmy, Nicholas and Ava Bower; and his former wife, Victoria Shaffer-Bower of Treverton. Richard was also expecting a child in May and is survived by the baby’s mother, Cathleen Mottern of Muncy.
He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Richard Bower, who died January 12, 1988.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at New Life Church, 1006 Village Road, Pennsdale, followed by a time of fellowship, sharing and refreshments. Officiating will be Pastor Rob McKenzie of Bible Baptist Church of Huntersville.
