Mae A. (Dolly) Johnson

Mae A. (Dolly) Johnson, 87, a resident of Muncy Creek Twp., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 16, 2009 at her residence. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Friday, May 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Smith) Wertman.

Dolly was the widow of Olen M. Johnson who preceded her in death on October 3, 1983.

She was a 1938 graduate of Muncy High School.

Mae had previously been employed in the Muncy High School cafeteria and by the Gem Stone Jewelry Store at the Lycoming Mall.

Dolly was an avid bowler and enjoyed dancing.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Leon M. and Dorothy Johnson, Muncy, PA; Lynn D. and Brenda Johnson, Cogan Station, PA; Larry L. and Joni Johnson, Muncy, PA; Lewis C. and Cathy Johnson, Muncy, PA and two brothers, James Wertman, Hughesville, PA and Edward Wertman, Muncy, PA. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dolly was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Rohm and one brother, Max Wertman.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted in the Muncy Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 20, 2009 with Reverend Scott Warren, pastor of the Muncy Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA. The family will provide the flowers.
