Walter L. Stugart
Walter L. Stugart, 65, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at his home.
Born September 24, 1943, in Jordan Township, Lycoming County, he was a son of Grace Keller Stugart and the late Donald I. Stugart.
Walter graduated from the Hughesville High School, Class of 1961 and was a Vietnam veteran, who served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed with the Darling Valve Company from 1964 until 1976 as a foreman and in 1976, he established B&W Upholstery, Turbotville, with his brother-in-law.
Walter was the founder and past president of the Lower Lycoming Softball League and former league officer for the Williamsport Softball Association. He played softball every year of his adult life.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Hughesville, are a son, Ivan Stugart of Hughesville; a daughter, Patricia Sutherland of Jacksonville, FL; a step-daughter, Chrissy Julian of Montgomery; a brother John Stugart of Brooksville, FL; three sisters, Donna Bird of Millville, Mary Stugart and Ruth Newman, both of Hughesville; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
In addition to his father, Walter was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Crevline.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. G. Edward Corcelius officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions to the Susquehanna Home Health Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
