Fred W. Sheatler

Fred W. Sheatler, 67, of King Street, Turbotville, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg where he had been residing the past several years.

Born March 24, 1941 in Turbotville, he was the son of the late Jesse B. and Elsie J. (Kashner) Sheatler. On October 2, 1960 he married the former Maxine K. Keiser and they have celebrated 48 years of marriage.

A truck driver for many years, he owned and operated Sheatler’s Hay and Straw Trucking and also drove for Clayton Keiser. Earlier in his life he was a supervisor at Dye Tech, Montoursville and had worked at Montgomery Mills.

Fred enjoyed John Wayne movies, Conway Twitty music and was a Richard Petty race fan. In the most recent years while a guest at River Woods, he enjoyed attending all the various activities held there but he still appreciated the times with his family most of all. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons and a daughter-in-law: Fred W. Sheatler, II of Turbotville; David E. and Lorie Sheatler, New Columbia; two daughters and a son-in-law: Penny L. and Steven Meckley of Milton and LaVonne K. Sheatler, Turbotville; five grandchildren: Brent, Curtis, Derrick, and Taylor Sheatler and Laci King; four great-grandchildren: Brooke and Arianna Sheatler and Reese and Landyn King; a brother, Earl A. Sheatler and a sister, Pearl M. Keefer, both of Watsontown.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:30 PM at Marlow Hall at RiverWoods, One River Road, Lewisburg with the Rev. Jerome Haupt, chaplain at River Woods officiating.
