Eugene C. Rooker
Eugene C. Rooker, 63, of Muncy, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at his home.
Born May 31, 1945, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Willard B. Rooker and the late Helen C. Flick Swizinsky. He and his wife, the former Mary Louise Brady, would have celebrated 27 years of marriage on May 1, 2009.
Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 601, Sonestown. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being in the outdoors hunting and fishing. Eugene was also a NASCAR fan and enjoyed playing cards with his friends Barbara and George McLaughline.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Kevin Rooker of Muncy; three daughters, Billie Brady of Hughesville, Stacy Brady of Muncy and Patty (Jerry) Hack of Millville; six brothers, Gary Rooker and Willard Rooker, both of Dallas, Texas, Grant Rooker of Hughesville, Larry Rooker of Linden, Mark Rooker of Muncy and Donald Rooker of Benton; a sister, Brenda Phillips of Lairdsville; a step-father, William Swizinsky of Unityville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his mother and father, Eugene was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Earnest; a sister, Debbie Swisher; and a grandson, Logan Williams.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
