Margaret E. “Peg” Wertman
Margaret E. “Peg” Wertman, 86, formerly of Maple Lane, Watsontown, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Heritage Oaks Nursing Home, Lubbock, TX where she had been residing the past year.
Born September 10, 1922 in Dewart, she was the daughter of the late Ruckle T. and Julia Adaline (Porter) Burrows. She was married to William C. Wertman on September 28, 1941 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage until his death May 11, 2007.
Mrs. Wertman and her husband operated the Watsontown Theatre for many years. She was also an Avon Representative, had worked at the former clothing store in Watsontown and had worked at Montgomery Mills earlier in her life.
She was a member of the Covered Bridge Society.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Patsy Wertman of Lubbock, TX; four grandchildren: William R. Wertman of Virginia Beach, Va., Samantha Lynn Fulcher, Thomas Wesley and Rebecca A. Wertman, all of Lubbock, TX; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Wertman, Taylor Clark, Zayne Fulcher, Aiden Wertman, Ethan Fulcher, and Kaylynn Gaddis and a great-great granddaughter, Hayley Williams.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were two brothers, Charles and Clayton Burrows and a sister, Thelma A. Donachy.
Friends are invited to call at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown from 10 to 11 AM Saturday where the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell of Friendship Baptist Church, McEwensville officiating.Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
