Clara I. Miller

Clara I. Miller, 91, formerly of Muncy and Bloomsburg, died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Kramm’s Nursing Home in Watsontown, where she resided for the past year.

Born March 23, 1917, in Kelly Crossroads, Union County, she was a daughter of the late Warren & Kathryn Baker.

Clara married Junior F. Miller on July 26, 1939. Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage until Junior’s death on September 20, 1985.

For thirty years she worked in the weaving department at Montgomery Mills. Clara also worked as a janitor at the former Turbotville Dress Co. In March of 1979 she retired from the workforce. In her spare time, she thoroughly enjoyed a lively game of bingo and playing card games.

Clara was a member of the Clyde Mowrer American Legion Post 323 Auxiliary of Watsontown; the Milton Moose Lodge 171 Auxiliary; a social member of both Muffley-Huff Post 8206 VFW, Turbotville and the Edward Smith Post 3428 VFW, Muncy. She was a former member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watsontown.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Donald and Elaine Miller of Montgomery and Fred Miller of Sarasota, Florida; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathryn and Russel Mingle of Saylorsburg, Marjorie and Elwood Ackley of Bloomsburg and Betty Fleming of Milton; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Albert Baker.

Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. Jill Seagle, pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown. Burial will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Lewisburg.
