Sylvia Laura Lyons

Sylvia Laura Lyons, 94, a resident of Muncy, PA, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009 in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Moreland Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Wednesday, September 23, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Nelson H. and Mary L. (Whipple) Lowe.

Sylvia was the widow of Lester H. Lyons who preceded her in death in 1968.

She was a graduate of Muncy High School. Sylvia had formerly been employed by Milco at Millville, PA.

She was a member of the Moreland Baptist Church and a former member of the Millville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and roses.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, Donald E. Lyons, Jr., Muncy, PA; Mark Lyons, Hughesville, PA; Donna Foust, Nordmont, PA; Sharon Byrd, Independence,MS; Steve Williams, Millville, PA; Kim Bacon, Millville, PA; Robin Baylor, Wilkes-Barre, PA; one sister, Janet C. Watts, Muncy, PA; one brother, Nelson H. “Sticker” Lowe, Muncy, PA. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by one son, Donald E. Lyons, Sr., one daughter, Shirley Albertson, six brothers, Robert W. Lowe, Max D. Lowe, Paul S. Lowe, Nile Lowe, Donald F. Lowe, Mac D. Lowe, Sr. and two sisters, Edna B. Dubois and Lois Waldman.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 with Rev. Dr. Paul Fitzgerald, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
