Grace L. Swank

Grace L. Swank, 67, of Hughesville, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at her home.

Born November 5, 1941, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Mary Bacon Hamilton. Her husband of 42 years, Chester C. Swank Sr., preceded her in death on August 28, 2002.

Grace attended the Williamsport High School. In 1995, she retired from the Boone Nursing Home, after having worked there for 26 years, first as a CNA and later as head of housekeeping. Grace was a good standing member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Muncy. She enjoyed reading, needle point and attending religious events.

Surviving are two sons, Chester C. Swank Jr. of Muncy and Gerald A. Swank of Unityville; three daughters, Louise Grace Cooney of Hughesville, Lois M. Swank of Unityville and Judy A. Chestnut of Springfield, MA; two brothers, Ray Hamilton of Millville and Charles Hamilton of Muncy; a sister, Donna Roupp of Williamsport; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by a son, William J. Swank and a brother, Robert Lee Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Elder David R. Wenzel officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
