Walter Rafalko Jr.

Walter Rafalko Jr., 80, of Muncy Valley, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Williamsport Hospital.

Born Dec. 17, 1928, in Throop, he was a son of the late Walter Sr. and Helen Mushinsky Rafalko. He and his wife, the former Angelina A. Serna, celebrated 58 years of marriage on Aug. 5, 2008.

Walter was a WWII and Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from the M&M Mars Company and was a member of the Valley United Methodist Church, Muncy Valley. Walter was a very loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and playing golf.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons, Samuel (Debbie) Rafalko of New Jersey, Ricky (Pam) Rafalko of New Jersey, John (Lisa) Rafalko of Maryland and Michael (Carol) Rafalko of New Jersey; five daughters, Wendy (Wayne) Sheets of Muncy Valley, Yvonne (James) Mooney of New Jersey, Diane (Rich) Hewitt of Muncy Valley, Susan (Rob) Schouten of Arizona and Michelle Rafalko of Kresgeville; a brother, Stan (Judy) Rafalko of New Jersey; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a sister, Fran Hepworth.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the Valley United Methodist Church, Muncy Valley, with the Rev. Robert W. Brown officiating. Burial will be held privately. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
