Russell L. Sherwood

Russell L. Sherwood, 56, of 1854 Dark Hollow Road, Hughesville, died peacefully at his home on Sat., March 14, 2009, after an extended illness.

He and his wife, the former Donna Jean Dewald, celebrated 34 years of marriage this past January 25. Russell was born in Muncy on September 17, 1952, the son of the late John Collins and Mary Ellen (Cox) Sherwood.

Russell was a veteran of the US Navy and a graduate of the Hughesville High School. He was employed as a machinist at Andritz in Muncy, until the time of his illness. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed working on motors. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Donna, with whom he lived; one son, Shane (Tessa) Sherwood of Muncy Valley; three brothers, Ed Sherwood of Hughesville, Roger (Gail) Sherwood and Steve (Donna) Sherwood, and a brother-in-law, Alfred Yeagle, all of Muncy; two sisters, Barb (Jerry) Henninger of Neffs, Delores (Dale) McCormick of Muncy; three grandchildren, Blake, Hailey and Carter, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Jason, one daughter, Monica, one sister, Evelyn Yeagle, and one brother, Jim Sherwood.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Lairdsville Volunteer Fire Company, Social Hall, with his friend, Rod Barto, officiating. There will be a luncheon in the social hall, following the service. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
