Margaret E. Snoddy

Margaret E. Snoddy, 84, of Allenwood, died March 20, 2009 at Valley View Nursing Center in Montoursville, where she had been a resident since February of 2008.

Born Feb. 5, 1925 in Washington Twp., she was the daughter of the late J. Brady and Meriam (Bailey) Russell.

She married John M. Snoddy on Feb. 4, 1956, recently celebrating 53 years of marriage.

A 1942 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School, she had worked at Sterner’s Store in Dewart earlier in life.

As a child and until the time of her marriage, she was an active member of Washington Presbyterian Church, Allenwood. Following her marriage, she joined the White Deer Valley Baptist Church of Allenwood where she was a loyal choir member, past Sunday School teacher, flower and social committee member and ABW member. She was also a member of the Christian Business Women and Allenwood Homemakers.

She served as a 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Gregg Township auditor, and Union County Republican Committeewoman.

She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, sewing and baking and was known for her whoopie pies.

Surviving, besides her husband, are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas M. and Susan R. Snoddy, and Terry E. and Sue Snoddy, all of Allenwood and Jay Snoddy, Nashville, Tenn., a daughter and son-in-law, Christina B. and Daniel Maloney of Morgantown, W.V.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Robert and Jane Russell of Allenwood; a sister, Martha Jane Ronemus, Montoursville; a sister-in-law, Betty Ranck, Watsontown and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at White Deer Valley Baptist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Lois Yeagle, her pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church at 572 White Deer Valley Baptist Church Road, Allenwood, PA 17810.
