Thomas L. Calhoun

Thomas L. Calhoun, 76, of Dutch Hollow Road, Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday morning May 6, 2009 at The Gatehouse in Williamsport.

He was born in Lock Haven June 10, 1932 a son of Lloyd and Dorothy Dullen Calhoun. He was a U.S. army Korean War veteran. He married the former Gail Fisher Aug. 18, 1957 and she survives. He recieved his chemical degree from Lycoming College and took advanced courses from the University of Maine, University of Michigan and the University of Maryland. He retired in 1992 from Hummemill Paper, Lock Haven, after 35 years of employment where he was plant manager and supervisor of Quality Control. He was a member of Avis United Methodist Church and a former member of the Woolrich Lions Club. He enjoyed travel and golfing.

Besides his wife Gail, he is survived by a son, Gordon Calhoun (Julie) of Hughesville, one granddaughter, Avery and two step grandaughters, Ashley and Molley Mahaffey, two sisters, Helen Carson (R. Lee) of Monroeton and Donna Bierly (Walt) of Jersey Shore.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard.

Tom’s “Life Celebration” was held on May 8 at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home,” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Services were held Saturday at at the Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect St., Avis, Pa 17721 with his pastor, the Rev. Thomas C. Jones officiating.

His family suggest contributions be made to either Avis United Methodist Church or The Gatehouse Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport PA 17701.
