David R. Benamati

David R. Benamati, 42, of Hughesville, formerly of Barnesboro (Northern Cambria), died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Emergency Room.

Born February 2, 1967, in Cambria County, he was a son of Jean M. and the late David V. Benamati. He and his wife, the former Shelley A. Wolfe, celebrated 11 years of marriage on May 9, 2009.

Dave attended Penn State University and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1992. Since 1993 he has been employed with the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville, as a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

Dave’s commitment to funeral service and dedication to the families he served will forever be remembered. His caring and compassionate ways brought great comfort to those he assisted.

Dave had a passion for funeral service and was very proud of his accomplishments as a funeral director. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and was currently a member and serving as second vice president of the Central Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son, Samuel D. Benamati at home; two brothers, Christopher Benamati of Carrolltown and William Benamati of Curwensville; a sister, Gina Long of Pennfield; a mother-in-law, Mary Ann Wolfe of Nicktown; and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, with the Rev. Glenn McCreary officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.
