Erma M. Shoemaker
Erma M. Shoemaker, 86, of Montgomery, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Sugarloaf Township, Columbia County, a daughter of the late Wherley O. and Amy L. Boston Evans. Her husband of 41 years, William W. Shoemaker, preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1989.
Erma lived a rather simple and quiet life, as a homemaker and a beautician, operating her own beauty shop for 22 years. She enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and most of all, spending time with her family.
Surviving are a son, Paul E. (Deb) Shoemaker of Watsontown; a daughter, Sharon E. (Lanny) Wertz of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Heather Miller, Holly Wertz, Traci Runkle and Stephanie King; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Erma was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Renee Wert; four brothers, Francis, Guy, Larue and Bradley; and three sisters, Mertle, Fay and Mary.
A graveside memorial service was held last Friday at Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, with Elder David Strayer officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
