Sara Bieber Klepper

Sara Effie Bieber Klepper, 97, of The Meadows and formerly of Muncy R.R. #5, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at the Williamsport Hospital. Sixty eight family members honored her at an early birthday party on Aug. 15.

Born Jan. 26, 1912 in Montgomery, Pa., Sara was a daughter of Howard Lee and Margaret Hannah Smith Bieber. She graduated from Montoursville High School in 1929.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John W. Klepper, a grandson, Taylor Ertel, and three siblings, Bertha Anderson, Elias Bieber and Wilda Crawford.

A long time member of St. James Lutheran Church, Muncy, Sara contributed to her church by teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and serving as President of the Women’s Society.

Surviving are a son, John W. (Arlene) Klepper II, Montoursville and four daughters, Ann (Bob) Ellison, Estero, Fla.; Kay (Allen) Ertel, Loyalsock; Susan Lee (Bob) Bastian, Somerset; and Linda Gail (Ed) Joella, Norfolk, Va. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Beverly Cotner at St. James Lutheran Church on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The family suggests contributions may be made in her name to St. James Church, 876 Lycoming Mall Road, Muncy, PA 17756.
