Dorothy M. Kantner
Dorothy M. Kantner, 95, formerly of Montgomery, Pa., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 in the Valley View Nursing Center.Born in Sullivan County, Pa., on Saturday, Jan. 10, 1914, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Cora B. (McCarty) More.
She was the widow of Warren T. Kantner, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1987. His death broke a marital union of more than 51 years.
Dorothy was a 1932 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School. She retired from the S.C.I. at Muncy, where she had been employed as a matron. Dorothy had previously been employed by the former Montgomery Mills.
She was a lifetime member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church in Montgomery, Pa., where she was a former Sunday School teacher.
Dorothy enjoyed reading and especially enjoyed the company of her family.
She is survived by one daughter Donna K. Fullerton, Montgomery, Pa.; one grandson, Michael R. Fullerton, Montgomery, Pa.; two great-grandsons, Nicholas Fullerton; Chad Fullerton; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Kantner and one great great-granddaughter, Alevia Fullerton.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, George W. Kantner; two grandsons, Stuart T. Fullerton and Warren L. Kantner; one brother, LaVerne More; two sisters, Agnes Freehling, Helen Kuzio and her son-in-law, Richard Fullerton.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery, Route 405 Highway, Montgomery, Pa., at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, with the Rev. Zach Labagh, her pastor, officiating.
The family will provide the flowers. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, PA 17752.
