Charles A. Young

Charles A. Young Jr., 75, of Muncy, Pa., passed away on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa. He was the loving husband of Ann M. Johnson Young, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Chester, Pa. he was the son of the late Charles A. and Pearl Frybarger Young.

He served honorably in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of Airman 2nd Class.

Mr. Young was employed by the Church Farm School in Exton, Pa. for 30 years, working in the maintenance department. He also worked for Matlack Trucking, driving 18 wheel trucks up and down the east coast, and worked for Smedley Excavation in Chadds Ford, Pa.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed all Philadelphia sports, especially the Eagles and Phillies. He also enjoyed watching golf and was a huge Tiger Woods fan. Mr. Young was also a member of the Lionville Fire Company.

He was a well loved father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Charles A., III of Chester Springs, Paul A. of Pottstown, and Matthew W. of Souderton; and by his sister, Edith Miller of Oxford; and by grandchildren, Jenna, Andrew, Kyle, and Kara Young. He was predeceased by his brother, Haywood (Sonny) Young.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA. Interment will be private.
