James P. Montgomery

James P. Montgomery, 86, of Hughesville, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born July 14, 1923, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Otto and Lavina Poust Montgomery. He and his wife, the former Ruth Aderhold, celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 8, 2009.

Jim was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Muncy Lodge 299 F. & A. M., the Christ United Methodist Church and a life member of the American Legion Post 35, Hughesville. Jim was also an avid woodworker.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, John W. (Melanie) Montgomery; two daughters, Linda M. (Steve) Samler and Martha M. (Robert) Buono; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. G. Edward Corcelius and Paul Shaner, CLM co-officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Hughesville Public Library, 146 S. Fifth St., Hughesville, PA 17737 or Christ United Methodist Church, 148 S. Main St., Hughesville, PA 17737.
