Barbara Kilgus
Barbara M. Kilgus, 54, of Muncy, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 24, 1954, in Muncy, she was a daughter of J. Dick and Margareth J. Marquardt Kilgus. She and her husband, Jay B Oden, celebrated 14 years of marriage Aug. 23, 2009.
Barbara was a graduate of the Muncy High School, Class of 1972. She was a faithful participant in the North Central Pennsylvania Conservancy and the Audubon Society, dedicating her life to nature, gardening and befriending animals. Barbara’s life was filled with many other passions as well, including cooking, hunting, ice skating, antiquing, and NASCAR racing, with Tony Stewart being her favorite driver.
Family and friends always held a very special place in Barbara’s heart. She loved spending time with them and always looked forward to hosting the annual family apple butter fest.
Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are a brother, J. Ned (DeNeiss) Kilgus; two sisters, June (Thomas) Zimmerman and Ocie (Gary Entz) Kilgus; brother and sister-in-laws, Charles Oden II, Garry (Robin) Oden, Pearl (Al) Sobczak, Arroll (Dara) Oden, Tronya Boylan, Ginya (Kevin) Yoder and Layne (Dolly) Oden; nieces and nephews, Zachery and Zane Kilgus, Brian (Nuttiya), Andrew, Claire Zimmerman, Sydney Kilgus Vesely, Scott Oden and Christy Babb, Stacey Oden and Stephaney Owenby, Angela Doty and Tiffany Boyles, Olivia and Levi Oden, Sarah and Kelly Boylan, Emily, Erin, and Ian Yoder, Grady, Rory and Clynt Oden; and great niece Kirsten Oden and great nephew Blake Babb.
Barbara was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William Boylan.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes there will be no visitation and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family would request that you plant a flower in memory of Barbara or memorial contributions may also be made to the Sun Home Health and Hospice, 1601 Sycamore Road Suite 2 B, Montoursville, PA 17754 or the North Central Pennsylvania Conservancy, 330 Government Place, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
